Snapshot essay redone

When I think back on a snapshot of my life I think back to my earlier days. I distinctly recall the 80’s and early 90’s. As I travel back through to my earlier days I chuckle a little as I remember different little quirks. The first thing that comes to my mind are Saturday morning cartoons. I’m not talking about the cartoons today. Back then it was worth it to wake up extra early to see all of the best cartoons, hour after hour all morning long. Below I have collected some of my favorite cartoon theme songs to bring you back to a time in my life that I wish I could revisit. So As I was going through i decieded to make a top ten list.

Starting with number ten we have Ghostbusters.

Who ya gonna call?

I remember dressing up as ghostbusters for halloween. I had a full suit and a proton pack for busting ghosts. Although one day we decided to make my little brother into the ghost slimer by rubbing green jello all over him. My mom was not so happy since we got it everywhere.

Counting down at number nine we have Chip and Dale rescue rangers.

Cha cha cha chip and dale!

Chip and dale had a really catchy theme song. And for those who don't believe in marketing i distinctly remember requesting monetary jack cheese on my sandwhich's for school.

At number eight we have Ducktales.

At number seven we have Ninja Turtles!

Turtle Power!

Ninja Turtles were awesome! I remember having the toys and fighting the foot and shredder as my favorite turtle. I always loved Michelangelo. I always felt like I was the party dude too. Even to this day I can't see a pair of numchucks without picking them up and flipping them around until I hurt myself. lol.

At number six we have Darkwing duck.

Lets get Dangerous!

I loved the whole attitude of Darkwing Duck. Lets get dangerous was my motto for a whole summer. I remember building bike trails in fields and saying my motto lets get dangerous right before I turfed it on the landing and spent 4 weeks with my arm in a sling. It was totally worth it.

Cruising on to number five we have Thundercats.

Thundercats HOO!

When I was really little I had Lional's sword and I would run around the neighborhood yelling Thundercats Hoooo! I would dive behind rose bushes and chase after imaginary bad guys with my buddys.

Incoming at number four we have Transformers.

More than meets the eye.

I had all of the transformer toys. They were really complex I remember that my dad couldn't figure out how to transform all of them, but I could transform them all. My favorite's were the dinobots. Grimlock (the T-rex) was my favorite. I remember timeing myself to see how fast I could transform him back and forth. His head would flip back and his chest open up to reveal his robot head. Then his tail would flip back and click to his back, and his arms would come out of the sides. I don't remember the house that I lived in at the time but to this day I remeber transforming him back and forth.

At number three we have Eek the cat.

It never hurts to help. I thought that I was soo funny when he would say that every time just before he got clobbered helping someone. I loved it.

At number two there's Animaniac's

Countless hours of my life were spent learning the theme song to this cartoon. And no matter how many times you sung along it never got any less fun. You weren't cool unless you could sing this theme song. I was so pround when I looked this up and found that I could still remember it.

And Finally at number one we have King Arthur and the Knights of Justice.

This was the ultimate cartoon. It would come on sunday morning which was alway hard for me cause we had church. So I became a master at setting the vcr to tape episodes. I remember sitting in church drawing pictures of knights hardley able to sit still until I could get home to watch my favortie cartoon. I've always loved Knights and this show had awesome 80's rock music in it which is also my favorite type of music too!

Snapshot Essay

When I think back on a snapshot of my life I think back to my earlier days. I distinctly recall the 80’s and early 90’s. As I travel back through to my earlier days I chuckle a little as I remember different little quirks. The first thing that comes to my mind are Saturday morning cartoons. I’m not talking about the cartoons today. Back then it was worth it to wake up extra early to see all of the best cartoons, hour after hour all morning long. Below I have collected some of my favorite cartoon theme songs to bring you back to a time in my life that I wish I could revisit. You’ll notice that some videos are included and others are linked. The best ones are included but I recommend viewing all of them. They are all about one minute long each. So enjoy!

To start with some classics we go to:

“Thundercats hoooo .“

And of Course when you’re ready for some “Hero’s in a half shell.” Ninja Turtles is the only way to go “Turtle power.”

You’ll never go wrong along with GI Joe the real American hero.

If you’ve ever gotten a feeling for getting dangerous then you can join:

Darkwing Duck “Lets get dangerous”

And remember it never hurts to help with Eek the cat.

We also need to cover those cartoons that everyone knew the theme song to:

Remember “Ducktales wooo ooh”

Or “Cha Cha Chip n dale rescue ranger’s

And of course nobody can forget Ghostbusters “Who you gonna call?”

Then we get into some serious cartoons accompanied by true 80’s theme songs:

King Arthur and the Knight of Justice

Galaxy High was complete with 80’s voice altering theme song.

Captain Planet was there for all those who were into saving the planet while watching cartoons.

Next we come to the cartoons where everyone tried as hard as they could to memorize the theme song. And you were the coolest kid in school if you could sing them.

And, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. (I know this isn’t a carton but I was so proud when I learned this rap that I felt it needed to be included.)

And lastly if you didn’t get enough these are a few of my other personal favorites:

Transformers . . . more than meets the eye?

Voltron. Ready to form Voltron? Go Voltron force!

He-man and the Master’s of the Universe

You know that you’re in the middle of an 80’s flashback if you hear the phrase:
“Whoa that was sooo gnarly.”
Or
“ Radical”
Or
“Come on dipstick, you need to chill or something” and, “Don’t have a cow man.”

And finally, If you know how to correctly use the word “Bogus” and play air guitar every time you’re happy then you know that you are a product of Bill and Ted.

So the next time you’re out and about somewhere and you see some kids who look funky to you and talks about things that you just don’t understand in a language that seem very foreign to you just remember that long before the weird trends of today, the 80’s and early 90’s were here and will always be a time of Super freakiness.

Really Awesome Coca Cola theme song link!!

Revised Conversation

My wife and I are always getting into little fun fights about how we should decorate our house. We both have very different ideas about what should go where and we both love to tease each other. We are both pranksters at heart and this is a fun game that we play (even though she almost always wins in the end). This was the latest of our little episodes, Enjoy!

"Hey I found the end table that we're going to buy for our living room!"

"What do you mean?" she said tensely.

"I saw one and it's not that expensive I think that we should get." I replied.

"Well I don't know, what color is it?"

"Its a pretty nice dark-brown color."

"No." she said.

"No?" I asked quite surprised

"No, dark brown is just not going to work for our house. I've already picked out a nice black one." she shot back at me.

"Ok, well how much will it cost? Because the one that i found only costs around $80, and they have two of them."

"Well the ones that I picked are a little more than that."

"How much more?" I asked almost afraid to hear the answer.

"Around $300 dollars."

"Is that for each or total."

"Each." she said rather nervously.

"We can't even afford $300 dollars, what makes you think that we can afford $600 dollars for stupid little end tables that sit next to the couch?"

"Look," she said in her irratated tone "Dark-Brown doesn’t match the colors that we have set for our living room. That's why we're going to save up and buy the black ones."

"Ok first of all, I don't want to save up $600 for stupid end tables, and secondly who cares what our freakin' colors are anyway. The last time I checked dark-brown and black are almost the same exact color. Why does everything have to match a color scheme?"

"Dark-Brown is totally different than black, and the reason that we need to match is because we're not white-trash red-necks. We don't want people to think that we bought everything at a barnyard sale."

"Well the end tables that I found are actually really nice looking, and for your information we're are poor college students; you're lucky that i'm not forcing you to buy all of our furniture at a barnyard sale."

"Look I know that this kind of stuff doesn't matter to you, but when people come over I want our house to look nice. I'm not asking you to buy them right now; i'm saying lets save up and get them."

"Ok how many people have even come over to visit our house since we moved in?" I asked.

"A lot!" she shouted.

"Less than ten." I shot back.

"That’s not true. We've had more than that."

"Ok," I said smugly "if you can name ten people that have come over to our house since we've moved in then you win and I'll go for the black end tables."

"I'm not going to sit here and go through all of the people that have come over just to satisfy your stupid male-ego. It's not my fault that you want to live in a house that looks like it belongs in a Dr. Seuss book, but I want our house to be nice. So go ahead and buy those tables and I'll still save up for the black ones so that we won't look like we have no idea how to pick out furniture, and it'll cost you even more money."

Needless to say there is no place for me to set down my drink next to the couch until somehow I manage to save up $600 dollars. . .

Observation

A little kid sits on the floor. She is playing with a toy where you puts different colored balls in the top and they roll down and make noises. Every time that the ball travels downs to the bottom she laughs. She repeats the process seven times. Then she turns here attention to her mom who is not looking directly at her. When she sees that her mom is not paying attention she begins to cry. The mom looks at her and walks over to her and picks her up. The child stops crying almost immeadiatly and bends over pionting towards the ground. The mom sets her back on the ground and she crawls back to the toy. She looks back at her mom and begins playing with the toy again. The mom goes back over to the chair and keeps hers eyes on the child. She has a puzzled look on her face. The child begins laughing at the toy agian as she plays with it.

Always Coca Cola rock version

This is us rocking out the Coca Cola theme song enjoy!

Metallica - Enter Sandman (Sundance 06)

Recall writing II

I remember a night two years ago. I was up at sundance in Park City. My best friend Ryan and I had gone up there becuase we heard that Metallica was coming to play a private party. No one was allowed in club Harry O's and plenty of people were there trying. They had hired extra bouncers to help watch the various entrances and keep people out.

We knew that we needed a new approach to try to get into the show. So we talked to the bouncer and told him that we were in an Austrailian band named Rough Stone and we wanted to talk to the owner about playing a show there. He went back in and came out several minutes later and told us to follow him. We walked through the entrance to the club and we were let into a back room where the owner was waiting. He asked us what we wanted. We could clearly see that he had seen right through our unbelievable cover story, so we decieded to come clean. We told him that we wanted to get into the metallica show and we were willing to do what ever it takes. He laughed at us and I thought for sure that we were finished. He then said that this was the funniest story that he had ever heard and told us that he would get our names on the private guest list for 125 dollars each!

We gladly paid and left the club feeling quite pleased with ourselves. The next day we showed up eight hours early for the show so that we could be in the front row. It was bitter cold outside and we knew that we were in this for the long haul. We took turns getting food and going for bathroom breaks to warm up. But we were the first ones in the club and on the front row of a private party where metallica would be performing.

The show was amazing! The sound was awesome and to be able to see Metallica in such an intimate setting was something that very few people get to experience now. My face hurt about half way throught the show because i couln't stop smiling. Of all the concerts that i had ever been to this one was by far the best. I caught two picks from the Kirk the guitarist, and i got a shot glass from Robert their bass player! I tried to catch a drum stick but i didn't get it on account that i'm short so someone taller than me got it. It was a night to remember the show was awesome and by the end of the night we were so close to passing out from exhaustion that we drove home with the windows down so that the cold would keep us awake. By far one of the most memorable nights of my life.

What is a blog

A blog is like a virtual diary. A place where you can express and share things about yourself. You can have a certain amount of control to who has access to read your blog. Some are meant to be very public and shared with as many people as possible, while others are meant to keep close friends close.

http://www.flickr.com/
The reason that i like flickr is that pictures can share tings that words cannot. And i love being able to find things so easily with the tags. I think that it is very cool.

About me:
I am a student at the University of Utah. I really enjoy being a student i like that whole atmosphere of the U. I am also a musician. I teach guitar here in salt lake city, and i play locally around the valley. I love music and everything about it. I really enjoy writing and playing music live. It has allowed me to make friends that i would never have known otherwise and experience things that are truly unique to those who play music. I hope one day to be able to share that on some level with a much wider audience and i love the new tools that that the internet offers me to do that specifically youtube and myspace.
